DBS Update ID Guidelines to more closely match Right to Work Requirements

The Disclosure and Barring Service has introduced new guidelines effective from the 24 October 2017.

A transitional period of 3 months has been allowed for local authorities and Registered Bodies to update the information packs. Further information can be sought from this link.

The above webpage also contains links to several other useful documents as to ID checking and what to do should ID Fraud be suspected.

Further guidance for employers and LA's on Right to Work checks can be accessed here.

The enhancement is being introduced so that DBS’s identity checking process is aligned with right to work checks. These state that Licensing Authorities must prevent illegal working in the UK by carrying out document checks on people before issuing licences to allow them to work within the United Kingdom.
